Introduction

Nuance PDF Converter Professional 7 provides everything you need to create, use and convert Portable Document Format (PDF) and XPS files. It can open PDF versions 1.0 to 1.7 and PDF/A for viewing, editing, annotation and re-assembly. It can create PDF files in versions 1.3 to 1.7 and the ISO standard PDF/A. This professional product has three parts (creating, editing and converting) that are installed and activated with a single procedure.

The Enterprise version of this product has deployment guides and provides some advanced features. These are documented in a separate chapter.

Create PDF Files

Make PDF files from practically all of your Microsoft® Windows® applications using the included Nuance product PDF Create 7, using File > Print or shortcut toolbars (when available.)  When working in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint you can call on the program to create a PDF file directly from your current document. In Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes, you can convert attachments to PDF. When converting from Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint, hyperlinks and comments can be transferred and you can set bookmarks to be generated from the structure of the Word document, from the worksheet names or the slide titles. Metadata (subject, author, keywords…) can be transferred from Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents to the PDF files created from them. You can create PDF files from web pages in Internet Explorer. PDF files you create can be protected by passwords and can include watermarks. Compression and font settings give you control over PDF file size and appearance.

Edit PDF Files

Nuance PDF Converter Professional gives you extensive control over your PDF files: through an easy-to-use browsing and reading interface. You can edit pages and documents, annotate and review them, adjust document security, sign your documents and more. PDF documents can be compiled from different sources and pages can be rearranged. The program delivers a powerful document management system: use it to create archives from related documents to index and search them later.

Inside the web browsers Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Apple® Safari (for Windows), the Nuance PDF Converter Professional interface can be used to modify hosted or referenced PDF files.

Convert PDF Files

Nuance PDF Converter 7, included with this product, lets you turn PDF files into fully-formatted Microsoft  Word, Microsoft Excel, Corel WordPerfect, and RTF files that you can edit. The program offers four types of conversions, resulting in standard documents, legal documents, forms or spreadsheets.

Create Fillable PDF Forms

While there are millions of PDF forms on the Web and shared over e-mail, only a fraction have the electronic form fields needed to complete them using your PC. As a result, most PDF “forms” are printed, completed by hand, and moved around the organization as paper. The FormTyper feature in PDF Converter Professional allows you to turn any PDF – even scanned PDF – into electronic forms that you can complete, save and route – completely online. You can add form elements to your PDF manually and also fill existing PDF forms that already have active form fields.

Listen to Your PDF

Only PDF Converter Professional allows you to “listen” to your PDF and turn a PDF into an audio file.

Using Nuance® RealSpeak™, human-sounding synthesized speech is used to turn every word into a document you can hear and take with you – on your Apple® iPod or favorite media player.
