Starting Converting

You can start the converting process either

  • from PDF Professional with the PDF Converter button PDF Converter saveas Starting Converting in the File toolbar

  • from the PDF Converter Assistant (always available), or

  • from an integrated program with or without using the Assistant. See below for detail on  Word (via File Open), Outlook, Lotus Notes and Windows Explorer.

Starting from the PDF Converter Assistant

 

To convert all the files in the file list

  • Click PDF Converter convert all Starting Converting Convert All to convert all the files in the file list, or select All Files from the Convert menu.

The files will be combined into one output file or converted to separate files depending on the Conversion Type as set in the Output Options panel.

 

To convert a selected file

  • Click PDF Converter convert selected Starting Converting Convert Selected, or select Selected File from the Convert menu to convert only the currently selected file. Multiple selection is not allowed.

Note

Two progress bars appear after starting the conversion process. The first progress bar indicates the progress per file. The second progress bar shows how many pages are already processed compared to all pages to be converted.

 

Starting from an integrated program without using the Assistant (direct conversion)

 

The Microsoft Word File Open

  • Select File > Open, select the file(s) then click the Open button in the Open dialog box.
    Under Office 2007 or 2010, click the PDF Converter button ms%20office Starting Converting Microsoft Office button, then click Open.

    The selected files(s) will be converted immediately and the result will be displayed in Word. Multiple file selection is allowed.

Windows Explorer   

  • Right-click a PDF or XPS file, select Convert PDF/XPS… from the context menu and then one of the direct conversion menu items

As Document to Microsoft Word

As Form to Microsoft Word

As Spreadsheet to Microsoft Excel

As Document to WordPerfect

As Legal Document to Microsoft Word

As Document to PowerPoint

 

The converted, editable document is displayed in the target application.

 

Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes

  • Click the PDF Converter button settings Starting Converting Settings tool in the  toolbar or choose Nuance PDF > PDF Converter Settings, and then select Convert PDF without Assistant and a target application on the PDF Conversion settings tab.

  • Click the PDF Converter 7 button, and then click OK.

    The converted, editable document is displayed in the target application.

Both toolbar buttons and menu items are accessible either in the main or in the message window.

Note

After starting direct conversion a progress bar is displayed along with a series of tips and the preview of the page currently being converted.

 

Starting from an integrated program using the Assistant

 

Windows Explorer  

  • Right-click a PDF or XPS file, select Convert PDF/XPS… from the context menu and then select Using PDF Converter Assistant.

Microsoft Outlook or Lotus Notes

  • Click the PDF Converter button settings Starting Converting Settings tool in the toolbar or choose Nuance PDF > PDF Converter Settings, and then select Use PDF Converter Assistant.

  • Click the PDF Converter 7 button, and then click OK.

Both toolbar buttons and menu items are accessible either in the main or in the message window.

 

Cancelling conversion

Click the Cancel conversion button to stop converting. The files already converted at the moment you press the button are saved. If you are saving to a single file, no output file will be generated.
