Preview

The Preview panel is one of the panels that appears on the left side of the PDF Converter Assistant.

To display this panel, click the PDF Converter preview tool Preview Preview tool while the file to be previewed is selected in the file list.

 

Page information icons

 

The icon in the top-right corner of the Preview panel gives page information:

Description

PDF Converter image icon Preview

This page is image-only. No text layer was detected, or password protection prohibits access to the text layer. PDF Professional can generate editable text from this page, but must use its built-in Optical Character Recognition (OCR) for this.

PDF Converter text icon Preview

A text layer was detected for this page. It can be converted to editable text.

 

Our sample file in the screenshot is an image-only file.
 

Navigation tools

 

Use the Navigation tools on the Preview panel to view desired pages of a source file to be converted.

Previous File

Click this to select the previous file in the file list and display its first page.

First Page

Click this to display the first page of the selected file.

Previous Page

Click this to display the previous page of the selected file.

PDF Converter checkbox Preview

Page to Preview

Type in a number within the valid page range and press Enter to have the page displayed.

Next Page

Click this to display the next page of the selected file.

PDF Converter last page Preview

Last Page

Click this to display the last page of the selected file.

Next File

Click this to select the next file in the file list and display its first page.

 

Page range

 

The Pages edit box serves for defining the page range to be converted. The default value is that all the pages are included in the range. You can use a hyphen and commas to separate instructions in the edit box. The same rules apply as for specifying pages to be printed.

The buttons beside the Pages edit box serve also for specifying a page range.

In-Range / Out-of-Range toggle

Click this to exclude / include the currently displayed page for conversion. A ToolTip shows what will happen if you click the button. When the button is clicked, it changes state.

PDF Converter all pages in range Preview

All-in-Range

Click this to include all the pages of a selected file into the pages to be
converted.

 

Note

When you perform a one-click conversion without calling the PDF Converter Assistant, all pages in the source file are converted.

Tip

Double-click with the PDF Converter cursor magnifier Preview  cursor in the Preview panel to enlarge the displayed page. Click the Close button or press Esc to return to the original size.
