Starting with the Convert PDF button

 

To start PDF Converter with the Convert PDF button

  1. Open the document to be converted in PDF Professional.

  2. Click the PDF Converter saveas Starting with the Convert PDF button Convert PDF button in the File Toolbar to open the drop-down list.

  3. Choose a mode-target combination from these five menu items for a direct conversion with existing settings for the chosen mode,

      or

    Choose Launch PDF Converter to open the PDF Converter Assistant and access all settings.
     

  4. For a direct conversion, name the file in the Save As dialog box. The converted document will appear in the target application.
     

  5. Choose the first menu item to convert a PDF file to an XPS document.
     

  6. Choose MRC PDF to generate a new PDF from the current one. The program examines the input PDF to determine which pages have a usable text layer. These pages are passed unchanged to the new PDF. MRC compression is applied only to image-only pages that are detected. The topic Image Compression tells you in which cases MRC compression is likely to be effective. Settings in the Save As dialog box let you choose a compression level.
     

  7. Choose Searchable PDF to generate a new PDF from the current one. The program examines the input PDF to determine which pages have a usable text layer. These pages are passed unchanged to the new PDF. OCR is run on image-only pages that are detected to create a text layer for those pages. Settings in the Save As dialog box let you choose an OCR language.
     

  8. Choose Unicode Text to extract the text from the current PDF and save it to a plain text file that can be read by NotePad, WordPad or a text editor. All graphics and formatting are dropped. OCR is not used for this extraction, so image-only pages yield no result.

Note

There is also a Convert Area button. First choose the Select Area tool to define a part of a page, and then choose Convert Area from the Tools menu or the drop-down list. Choose a destination in the Save As dialog box that appears. Conversion is done with current settings for the chosen target.
